So, I've been a bit absent the last few days, because of believe it or not, hurricane Ike. Now considering I live in the completely landlocked state of Ohio it seems a bit absurd that a hurricane would cause us any major problems. Well, after it was through torturing those poor Texans it hopped up here and we actually had winds classified as catagory one strength. Now I realize for some people that would be no big deal, but up here, we don't know how to deal with it. Ice, sure... snow, bring it on... hurricane... WTF???? So, yeah, no electricity since forever, in fact over the half the state was without power last I heard via a trusty battery powered radio. At the moment it's back on (thank God I live in a city) but I'm worried it will go off again. Presently our phone line is laying in our backyard... so yeah, good times. Just wanted to share the madness with my internet friends. Hope everyone else is safe!

Coming from a state that is hurricane central, I feel for you. No matter where you live it sucks when that type of weather messes with you. I hope everything is fine now. I'll be thinking about you and your family and hoping for the best. **hugs** By the way: I've missed you while you've been gone. It's good to have you back!

Thanks for the hugs, girlie. I have to admit, not having electricity is enough to drive me completely insane. We are definitely not used to that kind of wind up here. Power lines and trees were falling down, five or six people were killed and they declared Ohio a state of emergency so it was kind of a big deal. Thankfully where I live we only went without power but no major damage to our house or anything. All of our trees are still standing and for that we are extremely grateful.

I have been missing you and wondered where you were. I'm glad everything is semi-okay. Maybe the power will stay on. I hate having no power. It's wonderful to have you back!--BettyB

The power has been a bit shaky, but I think it's back for good now. There are still a lot of people around the state that don't have power, so I'm just thrilled I live in a city because we are considered high priority. The people in the country may not have power till Sunday. Anyway, I'm really glad to be back. *grin*

I'm glad you're ok girlie. I told Ike to behave but he didn't listen. Like J, I know what you're dealing with but I'm glad you're ok. I hope everything calms down for you soon. *hugs to keep you safe*

Thanks, Sharon. I know that what we got up here is only a small taste of what a hurricane is actually like, but we were in no way prepared to handle it. Even now a lot of businesses and schools are still closed because there isn't any power. I'm so glad things are basically back to normal in my neighborhood... although we are still waiting for the phone company to get their power line out of our yard. *laughing*

I was wondering wher my Jenny had gone to! *grin* Glad that your power is back up and running and I hope it stays that way.

My fingers are crossed that the worst is over and your life can reset. *hugs*

Believe me, Emm, it was driving me crazy not being able to get online. *laughing* I kept thinking about everything I might be missing. Luckily the power appears to be back for good now, so basically we are back to normal. *happy dance*

Was wondering where were you were, am glad to know you are okay. We too had the terrible winds, but didn't lose power, that's always a crappy time! Take care and will look forward to your next thoughts once things return to normal. luv and hugs, laceytree

I'm glad you are okay, Tracy. I wondered how things were going in your part of the state. You are very lucky you didn't lose power, on the news they said over half the state did. I live near Columbus, which was hit pretty hard with power outages and stuff. I'm just glad none of our trees decided to fall over.

i too have been baffled at the effects of the hurricane in good old Ohio. I currently am without power, water, phone or cell until at least thursday, more like sunday according to our volunteer fire department. Thankfully the roads have been cleared enough to go to work so i can at least get services here....hang in there, I know I am!

Wow, so sorry to hear you are still without power, Marci. *hugs* I heard on the news it could be seven days before some people get power back. I think I would lose my mind. *laughing* Stay safe, girlie!
