Caitlin continues to impress me. She has such a presence and she really gets to the heart of the matter. The word "fat" is hurtful, I'm use to it and it doesn't bother me as much anymore, but as a young person... I think, unfortunately, I've become numb to the meaning of it. Using that word myself to describe myself has become my way of taking the power from it, I guess. Or at least that's what I tell myself. The way she talks, I find myself nodding with her and agreeing. She understands because she's been there and that makes her story that much more personal to me.
I remember that article she mentioned. On the same cover as her was Nuke's kiss (Gay story in the 2000s still induces shock-- so stupid) and one other story. I found them putting Ashlee/Caitlin's Lap Band story on the cover ridiculous. What is so shocking about a young woman making a decision to better her life? *shakes head* I really commend her for talking so honestly about this. And I love that she is talking with JD and not some nameless interviewer. You can feel the ease with each other. You can feel how much he cares about her.
Thank you for making these clips available to us. **hugs**
